    Lounging Around. Arnold Kohn (1920-1984). In 1944, Kohn’s first pulp magazine illustrations appeared in the May 1944 issue of Mammoth Detective. He went on to sell freelance interior story illustrations and cover paintings. In the 1950s, Kohn painted pin-up art for men’s adventure magazines and calendars. He was an early contributor to Playboy magazine.
