1. A Portrait Of A Young Lady. Eugene de Blaas (Italian, Academic Classicism, 1843–1932). Oil on canvas.

De Blass depicted the life of Venetian fisherfolk, gondoliers and Venetian beauties. This work, and those similar, had a universal appeal with his highly polished technique, the depiction of embroidered lace or other finery, auburn hair and a coquettish glance.

Between 1875 and 1891 de Blaas exhibited twelve works at the Royal Academy, London.
