    This was the Lincoln’s birthday cover and Rockwell has taken the unobvious way to honor him. “Lincoln’s image inspires the young grocery clerk to be himself, to reach out for the President’s example of dauntless energy and fair play. The earnestness of the young man’s face leaves no doubt as to the outcome of his efforts.” Finch reveals to us that “This cover belongs to a period when the general public held the legal profession in far greater esteem than it does today.” (And he wrote that in 1979!)
