    Martin-Kavel was a painter of figures, nudes, landscapes, still lifes and flowers.

    He was a regular exhibitor at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he was a Member and was awarded a medal for his work in 1881. 

    This is a fine example of Martin-Kavel’s elegant pseudo-portraits of idealized women which made his reputation.
