Little Lord Fauntleroy (1886). Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849–1924) was an English playwright and author. Scribner’s, New York. Illustrated with drawings by Reginald B. Birch. Original pictorial brown cloth. Custom clamshell box. First edition. First issue.

Burnett’s first children’s novel was originally published as a serial in the St. Nicholas Magazine (1885-1886). Little Lord Fauntleroy’s character was based on Burnett’s young son, Vivian. The Birch illustrations set fashion trends and there was a craze of mothers dressing their sons with velvet suits and lace collars.
