    The Country Gentleman - July 5, 1919. J Knowles Hare (1884-1947), American. Glamour print and calendar artist, usually in pastel, but also in pencils and oils. His wife, Gladys Granger, was his main model. Hare was a frequent contributor of saccharine portraits of 1920’s-type young women for the covers of “The Saturday Evening Post” and “The Country Gentleman” magazines. Hare designed many ads including those for Gossard Corsets, Palmolive, Elgin, and the Campbell Kids.
